This short film tells the story of the evolution of a modern social safety net system in Pakistan through the silent transformation brought about in the lives of more than 4.5 million beneficiary families, offering means of sustenance, support and, above all, hope for the future to by improving their household level welfare. Pakistan's Social Safety Net Project supported by the World Bank and implemented by the Government of Pakistan through the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has made significant strides in helping the poor cope with income shocks by providing them predictable monthly cash transfers for consumption smoothing as well as investments in human capital. Over the next four years, BISP plans to reach 7.2 million families (bottom 25% of the population) with income support cash transfers and send 3 million boys and girls of the poorest families to the primary school through a top up co-responsibility cash transfers.
