Education and health for women and girls in Laos, in recent decades, are improving. However, women are still dying of childbirth and girls continue to drop out of school at alarming rates, especially in rural areas. Women don’t hold decision-making power in their households. Economic opportunities for women, although improving, remain constrained. It’s clear that gender inequality hinders development.
