NEW YORK, September 21 — Today, World Bank Group President David Malpass met with President Gabriel Boric Font of Chile.
President Malpass and President Boric discussed Chile’s good track record on growth over the last several decades as a regional leader on trade openness, fiscal responsibility, and macroeconomic stability. President Malpass and President Boric recognized the importance of taking a medium-term approach to tackle the country’s longstanding challenge of raising median incomes.
President Malpass affirmed to President Boric the World Bank Group’s (WBG) role as a long-term partner of Chile, and highlighted modalities through which the WBG can support Chile in boosting investment and broad-based growth.
President Malpass and President Boric also discussed the challenges of water scarcity and energy transition, and both President Malpass and President Boric emphasized Chile’s potential on renewable energy, including green hydrogen.
