WASHINGTON, October 12, 2021 – Today, World Bank Group President David Malpass met with Nam-Ki Hong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Korea (ROK).
President Malpass thanked Deputy Prime Minister Hong for the ROK’s strong support for the World Bank Group. President Malpass and Deputy Prime Minister Hong discussed opportunities for deepening cooperation between the World Bank Group and ROK on public health preparedness and response issues.
President Malpass noted the ROK’s exceptional history as an IDA recipient that has become a contributing partner. President Malpass also expressed his appreciation for the ROK’s support for IDA20, and stressed the importance of a successful replenishment to providing urgent concessional grants and financing to the world’s poorest countries as they work to rebuild from COVID-19.
