WASHINGTON, October 12, 2021 – Today, World Bank Group President David Malpass met with Masato Kanda, Japanese Deputy Minister of Finance.
President Malpass conveyed to Deputy Minister Kanda his congratulations to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on his appointment, as well as to Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki. President Malpass thanked Deputy Minister Kanda for Japan’s strong support for IDA20 and international development.
President Malpass and Deputy Minister Kanda discussed the importance of debt transparency and regular debt data reconciliation. President Malpass and Deputy Minister Kanda also discussed shared development priorities, including health and crisis preparedness, the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and efforts toward helping countries achieve a just transition out of coal.
