WASHINGTON, October 11, 2021—This morning, World Bank Group President David Malpass met with President Ivan Duque of Colombia.
President Malpass commended President Duque for Colombia’s commitment to the social and economic integration of migrants from Venezuela. President Malpass also assured President Duque of the World Bank Group’s ongoing financial and technical support for Colombia as it works to promote broad-based economic growth and address migration issues.
President Malpass and President Duque discussed Colombia’s progress on climate change and biodiversity. President Malpass welcomed Colombia’s commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and implement a “30 x 30” biodiversity target to protect at least 30% of its land and ocean area by 2030. President Malpass also welcomed Colombia’s work toward innovative mobilization of finance for critical climate mitigation and adaptation investments.
