The World Bank can confirm that Mr. Abraham Weintraub has been elected by the constituency representing Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Philippines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago to be an Executive Director on the Bank’s Board. Mr. Weintraub is expected to take up his position in the first week of August and will serve in the current term which ends October 31, 2020 when the position would open up again for election.
Executive Directors are not World Bank staff. They are either appointed or elected by the representatives of our shareholders.
