DHAKA, February 26, 2017 — The World Bank Group today issued the following statement by Qimiao Fan, World Bank Country Director for Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal:
'The World Bank takes the issue of compliance with national laws very seriously. We are fully cooperating and working closely with the National Board of Revenues (NBR) and Customs Intelligence & Investigation Directorate (CIID) to address the issue of some outstanding passbooks. We have taken steps to trace the status of all outstanding passbooks issued to World Bank staff, and the whereabouts of the vehicles bought under the passbooks. We have arranged to return one vehicle, whose transfer is under process after the respective World Bank Group staff left the country, in addition to the two cars returned on February 20, 2017.'
