BUCHAREST, January 15th, 2010— The World Bank Office in Romania is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Francois Rantrua as Country Manager for Romania in the Europe and Central Asia Vice Presidency.
Mr. Rantrua, a national of France, joined the Bank in 1997 as an Environmental Specialist in the Africa Vice Presidency. Engineer by training, he has graduated the Executive MBA at Harvard Business School, and holds a MBA in Corporate and International Finance, at Hautes Etudes Commerciales (Groupe HEC - ISA), Paris France. He has since held various positions, his most recent assignments being Lead Corporate Strategy Officer with the WB’s Corporate Strategy Group, and Country Manager in Mauritania.
In this new position, Mr. Rantrua will provide leadership in the World Bank’s operations in Romania, having as priorities the day-to-day dialogue with the Government on a broad range of policy issues, including their structural reform program, regional issues and the management of the ongoing portfolio, as well as to play a strategic role in the implementation of Country Partnership Strategy and work program, in close collaboration with development partners (IMF, EU institutions, private sector and civil society).
His appointment is effective January 15, 2010.
