IDA Grant: US$8 million equivalent
Project Description: The Afghanistan Financial Sector Strengthening Project will help finance the costs associated with: 1) strengthening the capacity of Designed Account (Da) Afghanistan Bank in the areas of banking supervision, accounting, internal audit and human resource management; and 2) developing necessary financial infrastructure, such as public credit registry, collateral registry, and the Afghanistan National Institute of Banking and Finance. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) will also provide the necessary technical support to establish a public credit registry and collateral registry in Afghanistan.
