Uruguay promotes sharing care of newborns between mother and father. But, for a real impact on equality, men need to choose using the benefit provided by law.
THE BENEFIT: The benefit or part-time parental leave (Law No. 19.161 of 2013) allows private sector workers to reduce their working day by half, keeping their full income up to six months of the baby's life.
WHAT'S NEW: The program allows for alternate use between mother and father.
