The World Bank invites you to the launch of the first Lesotho Economic Update titled “Transforming Fiscal Policy into an Engine of Inclusive Growth”.
This first edition of the Lesotho Economic Update is designed to inform a robust policy dialogue around development challenges and opportunities for growth and poverty reduction. The report’s special focus section examines the role of fiscal policy in stabilizing the business cycle and proposes policy actions to improve the quality of the delivery of public services in an efficiency manner. By contributing to strengthening macroeconomic management and increasing the value-for-money in public spending, fiscal policy will strengthen the foundations for sustainable and inclusive long-term growth.
The launch will be addressed by the World Bank’s Division Director for Lesotho, Satu Kahkonen and the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Honorable Retselisitsoe Matlanyane. The World Bank team will then present the key findings and recommended policy options. Invited stakeholders include leading policymakers, subject matter experts, private sector, civil society, academia and media. The invited audience will have an opportunity to pose questions and engage with the panel.
World Bank Economic Updates are aimed at a wide audience and include a review of recent economic developments, an assessment of the country’s medium-term outlook, and a special focus section offering a deeper analysis of a salient issue, trend, or policy area.
