Interested in learning more about available high quality emissions reductions credits with significant co-benefits to people and communities in developing countries?
Since 2014, the World Bank’s BioCarbon Fund Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes (ISFL) has supported developing countries in Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America to design and implement large-scale jurisdictional emission reductions programs that are now producing some of the world’s most trusted carbon credits. These multifaceted programs enhance sustainable productivity to improve local livelihoods while protecting primary forests, restoring degraded lands to preserve essential ecosystems, and reducing emissions from land use.
In addition, for more than ten years, the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) has provided ongoing technical and financial resources to developing countries to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD) which hasresulted in high integrity JREDD+ credits.
This workshop aims to raise awareness of the credits that are being generated from these programs to allow countries to engage directly with the private sector. The workshop will discuss the ISFL program in five countries as well as key FCPF programs. Besides, it will also present the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA)’s guarantee related to Article 6 of the Paris Agreement (6.2 and 6.4).
The presenters will include government representatives from the Ethiopian and Zambian jurisdictional landscape programs whowill discuss the features of their emission reduction credits which will be generated and issued shortly into the World Bank’s Global Registry.
