The World Bank Group (WBG) and the African Development Bank (AfDB), in collaboration with partners, have launched an ambitious mission to connect 300 million people to electricity in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030. Known as Mission 300, this initiative provides a game-changing opportunity to lift millions out of energy poverty, unlock opportunities, and drive economic growth.

On January 27-28, 2025, African Heads of State will come together with private sector leaders, development partners, and a limited number of civil society organizations for the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where they will join forces to expand electricity access across the continent and outline concrete steps toward transforming the region’s energy sector. The Summit will provide a unique opportunity to mobilize financial and political support for energy access, which is foundational to unlocking human and economic development across Africa.

In the lead up to the Summit, the WBG, AfDB and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) are hosting a virtual dialogue on the pivotal role of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in accelerating sustainable energy access across the continent. The Dialogue will include presentations and discussions on Mission 300, and provide an opportunity for CSOs to make interventions, ask questions, and share solutions, innovations, and advocacy strategies.

Outcomes of the Civil Society Dialogue will be presented by CSO Rapporteurs at the Heads of State Summit.

A recording of the event will be posted on this page as well as the Rapporteurs Report.
