Insurance helps households, firms and countries cope with shocks by providing the financial resources to rebuild livelihoods after disasters. Yet access remains inadequate, leaving billions without protection, despite successful models of public-private partnership which offer examples of affordable insurance in developing countries.
Participants discussed gaps in insurance markets in providing coverage for climate-related risks and explores models for enabling access to insurance against disasters to vulnerable groups and SMEs.
