Rowing in the Same Direction: Alignment Between Environmental Champions in Government, Media and Civil Society | Watch the replay
Champions of environmental issues in government often struggle to advance their agenda vis-à-vis their peers in other ministries and society as a whole. Aligning their advocacy efforts with the work of civil society and media could be beneficial to all.
On the other hand, non-governmental organizations and media ought to maintain their independence and they cherish their role of holding public officials to account. Is there scope to foster greater collaboration between public officials responsible for environmental issues, journalists and NGOs? On May 4th, 2024, the World Bank's Coalitions for Reforms organized a session to discuss this as part of UNESCO’s 2024 World Press Freedom Day Global Conference on Journalism in the Face of the Environmental Crisis in Santiago, Chile.
