The climate crisis is a water crisis. Eight out of 10 climate events are water-related, encompassing temperature rises, changing precipitation patterns, and more frequent and intense floods and droughts. By 2050, an estimated 4 billion people will live in water-stressed areas and 1.6 billion will be exposed to floods.
As the World Bank Group redoubles efforts to end poverty on a livable planet, World Bank Water will be at COP28 in Dubai to help elevate water on the climate agenda. The Bank will convene and co-convene multiple sessions focusing on a variety of water-related topics, including the private sector's role in combatting climate change, water in the circular economy, climate-resilient approaches for flood and drought, and youth engagement in climate and water management.
