Sustainability-linked bonds, outcome bonds, catastrophe bonds, and MDB hybrid capital support the financing of climate, environmental and social outcomes. These innovative bonds can link private investor returns to specific project outcomes and transfer risks to capital markets, while MDB hybrid capital allows investors to support significantly increased MDB lending.
Public sector financing alone is not sufficient to achieve the sustainable development goals. Developing and scaling capital markets solutions that channel private capital to climate change and other challenges is urgently needed.
The World Bank Treasury organized the event “Scaling Climate Finance Through Innovative Capital Markets Solutions” in the framework of COP28 in Dubai.
This event was aired during the World Climate Action Summit on Saturday, December 2nd, at 5 am EST (GMT+4), a 45-minute moderated panel discussion designed for in-person and online audiences.
During the panel, speakers discussed how sustainability-linked bonds, outcome bonds, catastrophe bonds, and MDB hybrid capital support the financing of climate, environmental and social outcomes.
