We Are Afrika: The Power of Women and Youth

We Are Afrika: The Power of Women and Youth is an exhibition presented by the World Bank Group which celebrates and explores the work of established and emerging artists hailing from across the African continent; from Botswana and Eswatini to Seychelles, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania, to name a few. The exhibition investigates what progress means within many different African contexts and presents provocative visions of the future.

We Are Afrika is released in alignment with the World Bank’s focus on climate change and the development of the Africa Human Capital Plan, a plan created by the World Bank in 2019 which sets out clear targets and commitments to boost Sub-Saharan Africa’s potential through its human capital—the health, knowledge, skills, and resilience of its people. Citing the continent’s young people as its greatest resource and key to prosperity in a globalized and digitizing economy, the Plan has inspired We Are Afrika’s focus on young voices.
