Bicara Bumi (Earth Talk): Indonesian Mangroves for the World, Mangrove Management Best Practices

June 27, 2022
Jakarta
Bicara Bumi Mangrove Indonesia

In 2020, the Government of Indonesia launched the National Mangrove Rehabilitation Program that aims to rehabilitate 600,000 hectares of degraded mangroves by 2024 and increase conservation efforts on existing mangroves.

The World Bank supports the Governments’ National Mangrove Rehabilitation Program through the recently launched Mangroves for Coastal Resilience program (M4CR), which aims to strengthen mangrove management in target areas and improve the livelihoods of coastal communities.

To share and exchange knowledge on global best practices and lessons learned about sustainable mangrove management, and in the commemoration of World Environment Day, the Bicara Bumi hybrid webinar will be held to share the concept and implementation plan of the national mangrove rehabilitation program, exchange best practices and lesson learned to support efficient and effective implementation of mangrove rehabilitation in Indonesia and provide a platform for collaboration between ministries/agencies, academics, CSOs and other parties involved in the implementation of mangrove rehabilitation in Indonesia

In this occasion, the World Bank will also introduce a report entitled “The Economics of Large-Scale Mangrove Conservation and Restoration in Indonesia.”
