The Annual Finance and Accounting Conference will be held in two virtual sessions on June 8, 2022 and June 9, 2022. The workshop brings together leading experts from Deloitte for an in-depth discussion on current accounting and finance issues facing the Banking industry.

NOTE: This event is currently only open to World Bank Group, IMF, IADB, and other Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) staff.

  • Jointly sponsored by the WBG Controller and Deloitte, this virtual conference brings together leading experts from Deloitte for an in-depth discussion on current accounting and finance issues facing the Banking industry. The conference will also feature interactive Q&A sessions with the speakers.

    As in previous years, the conference attracts finance and accounting professionals across the World Bank Group, as well as the International Monetary Fund and the Inter-American Development Bank. This conference qualifies for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits. To receive the full 5.5 hours of CPE credit you must attend all sessions in their entirety, and engage with all polling questions on both days. When entering your Zoom session you must login with your full legal name that should appear on your CPE Certificate.

    Alex Braier is a Managing Director and serves as Deloitte’s Public Sector Leader for Organizational Strategy, Design, and Transition, and Deloitte’s Lead Partner for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Alex has led or helped to lead some of the largest transformation efforts in the US Public Sector during his 25+ years of consulting, with broad experience working with eight of the 15 cabinet level agencies, as well as many independent agencies of the U.S. government, state and local governments, multi-lateral agencies, and public sectors around the world.

    Partner,Deloitte & Touche LLP

    Christine has more than 17 years of professional experience working with clients in various industries on ESG initiatives such as ESG materiality assessments, data processes and controls, reporting, assurance, and climate risk analysis. Christine’s experience also includes an assignment working at the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) assisting with their market adoption initiatives of the SASB standards. She also has experience helping companies with the reporting requirements of Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act (conflict minerals). Christine has led multiple engagements for various clients to establish sustainbility disclosure and assurance guidelines, Climate risk analysis, Sustainability accounting standards (SASB) and supply chain risk assessment.

    Daniel David Bachman

    Senior Manager, Economic Insights, Deloitte

    Daniel Bachman, Ph.D., is an experienced U.S. and international macroeconomic forecaster and modeler. He has led and participated in forecasting teams in both the public and private sectors and led the development of sophisticated modeling tools for those forecasting teams. Dr. Bachman has substantial experience in teaching and training in both classroom and in corporate and government settings around the world. He is experienced in communicating complex economic ideas to broad audiences through written reports, op-eds, web articles, speeches, economic outlook presentations, and college courses. Dr. Bachman has advised presidential appointees and corporate planners for Fortune 500 companies on economic ideas and events, and he has represented the U.S. government at international economic organizations.

    Jim Rowan

    Principal, Deloitte LLP

    Jim is a Principal with Deloitte LLP., and a leader in the firm’s Strategy and Analytics practice. He helps clients transform their businesses using data powered analytical and AI solutions that enable better decision making. Over the course of his career, Jim has served several clients across the life sciences, healthcare and telecommunications industries. He also has deep knowledge of the finance function in these organizations, having led analytics, planning and forecasting and close projects that enable the finance function to embrace digital transformations. Outside of client responsibilities, Jim is the AI and Data Operations Offering Leader (P&L Owner) for the firm's Strategy and Analytics offering portfolio. He has helped shape and sponsor Deloitte’s AI Academy program as well as many other talent initiatives related to developing and mentoring.

    Matthew J. Iandoli

    Managing Director, Government Relations, Deloitte

    Matt Iandoli is a Managing Director with the Policy & Government Relations team of Deloitte LLP. In this role, Matt advises Deloitte’s senior leadership on regulatory and legislative issues that impact the firm. Prior to joining Deloitte, Matt was a Director of Congressional and Political Affairs for the American Institute of CPAs where he was responsible for lobbying all Members of the House of Representatives and Senate for issues relevant to his portfolio. Matt also served as Legislative Director and Counsel for a number of years for a senior member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Chris Cannon of Utah. Through this position, Matt managed all legislative issues for the Congressman’s office and also was the primary staff member for Cannon relating to his Committee assignment on the House Judiciary Committee. Prior to joining Cannon’s office, Matt was the Policy Director in charge of the legislative and communications agenda for the House Western Caucus, which was comprised of over 60 members of the House of Representatives. Before moving to Capitol Hill, Matt worked at a lobbying firm as he pursued his law degree at night. Matt is a graduate of Georgetown University and the Catholic University School of Law.

    Parth Patwari

    Parth Patwari

    Principal, Deloitte & Touche LLP

    Parth Patwari leads Deloitte’s Financial Services Industry Data & Analytics practice. He works with US and Global banks to solve technology, operations and strategy challenges in data management, analytics as well as in the core banking areas. He has extensive experience working with global and regional banks, capital markets, and credit card institutions to architect, design, and implement large-scale systems supporting mission critical customer, finance, risk, regulatory and compliance functions. He has deployed AI/Machine Learning solutions using organization’s existing data assets to improve data quality, bring predictive analytical capabilities within finance and customer domains, and increase process automation. Parth provides visioning, strategic counsel and execution support to the CIO, CFO/CRO and CDO organizations, and works with line of business leaders in retail and wholesale banking to support their growth and efficiency agenda Bob was a member of the International Accounting Standards Board’s IFRS Interpretations Committee (2015-2021) and was a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board’s Emerging Issues Task Force (2007-2020). He is and has been active in standard setting including participation in FASB, AICPA and IASB working groups and other standard setting forums. Bob is a frequent presenter on U.S. and international accounting topics. From 1997 to 1999, Bob was a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission. In addition, in his over 30 years of experience, Bob has held various other roles in Deloitte’s Professional Practice Network and Stamford, Connecticut audit practice.

    Patrick Givens

    Patrick Freeze Givens

    Managing Director, Government Relations, Deloitte

    Patrick serves as a managing director of government relations for Deloitte LLP. In this capacity, he advises the firm’s leadership on emerging political and regulatory trends impacting the partnership. Drawing on his experience and deep network in Washington, D.C., he develops and executes legislative strategies in state capitals, Washington and globally in order to advance the firm’s business interests. Prior to joining Deloitte in 2008, Patrick worked on Capitol Hill for two Members of Congress. He helped develop and promote policies in the U.S. House of Representatives ranging from affordable homeowners insurance legislation to funding for Everglades restoration. Patrick successfully shepherded legislation through Congress and onto the President’s desk that protected small businesses conducting certain types of credit card transactions from unfair lawsuits. Patrick graduated from the University of Florida in 2003 with a B.A. in political science, and obtained a M.A. in political management from the George Washington University in 2005.

    Bob Uhl is a partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP-U.S. where he leads the U.S. IFRS Centre of Excellence. Bob also has global roles in Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited as the Senior Technical Advisor within the Global Audit & Assurance Quality Team and the U.S. representative on the Global IFRS Leadership Team. In these roles, he is responsible for formulating policies for and monitoring audit and assurance quality; responding to standard setters and formulating policies on accounting matters under both U.S. and international accounting standards; and, consulting with Deloitte professionals, clients, and other parties.
