The Governance Global Practice – Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region, in collaboration with the Governance Global Practice Latin America and Caribbean Region (LAC) region present: Building Effective, Accountable, and Inclusive Institutions: A Conversation with Europe and Central Asia and Latin America and Caribbean.
____________
In July 2019 the World Bank Europe and Central Asia (ECA) Governance team convened a conference that brought together over 500 participants from government, international development partners, academia, the private sector and civil society to discuss key governance and institutional challenges and opportunities across the region.
The opportunity to share knowledge among a wide range of stakeholders in the region resulted in Building Effective, Accountable and Inclusive Institutions in Europe and Central Asia, a book that describes what it takes to build trustworthy and effective institutions and documents success stories. It also acknowledges challenges and the lessons learned and provides practical examples and approaches that can be emulated in other countries.
The book, which was disseminated globally and has had 1.75 million downloads, is now available in Spanish, widening the sphere of knowledge sharing from one region to the next. This session discussed challenges and opportunities, push points and commonalities for building effective, inclusive and accountable institutions in Europe and Central Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean region.
