Asian Provident Funds – Meeting Tomorrow’s Challenges

April 28, 2021

Kuala Lumpur

  • This webinar will share the findings of a new World Bank report Asian Provident Funds – Meeting Tomorrow’s Challenges which analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the Asian provident fund model amid economic challenges, heterogeneous development and variation in demography. The report evaluates the performance of three out of four largest provident funds in Asia and identifies potential reforms and steps that can be adopted to enhance retirement security. The report also recognizes future challenges and classifies two key features of the provident fund model that may make it an attractive choice for governments, private institutions, and workers in emerging economies.   The funds covered in the report are India’s Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), Indonesia’s Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT), and Malaysia’s Employees Provident Fund (EPF). Senior managers of provident funds in Asia and the Pacific are invited to join panel discussion to share their views on addressing the future challenges.
