  • In the post-COVID era, how can donors, governments and the private sector work most effectively to rebuild the tourism sector, one of the world’s largest employers and trade forces—and build forward better?

COVID-19 has shut down both source markets and destination countries, providing an important opportunity to reset and redefine the sector. Pent-up demand will evolve into travelers with new expectations and priorities. For countries to benefit from the ‘new normal’ in tourism, consideration of biodiversity, climate change and inclusion will mandate innovative approaches for tourism to best generate jobs and support firms through recovery and beyond.

The new normal will be dynamic with many changing paths. Donors will have new choices, and this discussion highlights key approaches to garner desired benefits with specific approaches being utilized currently. Panelists will highlight how data, technology, climate change practices, and inclusion opportunities will combine to create a global tourism marketplace that responds to the evolving concerns and priorities of governments, civil society and travelers alike.
