  • Teachers are the single most important driver of how much students learn. They have the responsibility to ensure that all children—each with their own challenges and potential—can learn effectively and have an enriching experience in school. The World Bank is working with countries to ensure that every child is taught by a competent, empowered and motivated teacher. Join us for the unveiling of new resources to help countries build a cadre of effective teachers developed under The World Bank Global Platform for Successful Teachers, and a discussion on the best ways to support teachers during and after the pandemic.

    BACKGROUND

The event will include short presentations on the progress towards ensuring every child is taught by an effective teacher followed by a panel discussion with Jaime Saavedra, Global Director of the Education Global Practice, Karthik Muralidharan, Tata Chancellor's Professor of economics at the University of California, San Diego, Ranjit Disale, the winner of the 2020 Global Teacher Prize, Janeli Kotze, South Africa Department of Basic Education, and Modupe (Mo) Adefeso-Olateju, Managing Director of The Education Partnership Centre, on the best ways to support teachers during and after the pandemic. The discussion will be moderated by David Evans, Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Development.
