The World Bank Group is co-organizing a Virtual Parliamentary Briefing on Supporting Countries in Delivering the COVID-19 Vaccine alongside the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF on February 17, 2021.
Parliamentarians are important actors in the large-scale administration of vaccines – they monitor their government’s management of the process; pass legislation to promote necessary infrastructure and systems; and hold an open line of communication with their constituents to prevent misinformation and maintain public confidence.
This roundtable discussion will brief legislators on how the World Bank Group is helping low- and middle-income countries assess and remedy challenges to deploying vaccines and treatment fairly, efficiently and safely. It will highlight best practices and policies that legislators can adopt in their countries to support inclusive, transparent immunizations. A final report will be published by the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF summarizing recommendations of actions parliamentarians can take to protect their citizens’ health and welfare.
