This event aimed to shine a light on the extent of “learning poverty” with new numbers revealing the serious and urgent global learning crisis and the challenges countries face in terms of learning.
With the event, the World Bank aims to kickstart a global movement to bolster support for the notion that learning poverty should be tackled in the same way as extreme poverty and hunger – a deprivation that must be eliminated – and that urgent action is needed now. “Business as usual” is not enough to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal on education (SDG4).
