Organized by the World Bank Tokyo Disaster Risk Management Hub
Building on the success of the Program since its establishment in 2014, the Government of Japan (GoJ) and the World Bank agreed in December 2018 to renew the Program with support from Japan Ministry of Finance (MoF) to be implemented through 2024. The renewed Program will have a thematic focus on: i) Resilient Infrastructure, ii) Risk Identification, Risk Reduction, and Preparedness, and; iii) Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (DRFI).
To commemorate the renewal of the Program, the Launch Event will provide a strategic overview of how the partnership between the GoJ and the World Bank is expanding efforts to mainstream of DRM into developing country strategies and investments. The event will host a panel discussion on Resilient Infrastructure, inviting Japanese and World Bank experts to discuss recent trends and way forward in resilient infrastructure investment. The panel discussion will highlight recent examples of how the Program has enabled the integration of DRM in developing countries and opportunities to mainstream Japanese expertise on resilient infrastructure.
