The Strategic Impact Evaluation Fund, in partnership with JPAL and the Ivorian National Monitoring & Evaluation network (RISE), organized a policy event and workshop on impact evaluation research and using evidence for more effective policymaking.

The policy event was opened by Moussa Dosso, Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Employment, Social Affairs, and Professional Training, Sidi Tiemoko Touré, Delegate Minister to the President of the Republic, in charge of Youth Promotion and Youth Employment and Ousmane Diagana, the World Bank Country Director for Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, and Togo. Marianne Bertrand, a professor at the University of Chicago and co‐editor of the American Economic Review, delivered the keynote speech.

The workshop consisted of four days of training on impact evaluation methods and was attended by 100 participants, representing 10 project teams from Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea and Togo. Government and non-government officials, evaluation practitioners, local researchers and World Bank staff joined the workshop to learn more about impact evaluation, as well as how to incorporate impact evaluation research into their own project’s design.
