On June 2, the Handbook for Improving the Living Conditions of Roma will be disseminated through a workshop at the European Commission Representation Offices in Bucharest, Romania. The handbook was jointly funded and drafted by the World Bank and the European Commission.
It provides practical advice to local authorities and civil society organizations in the preparation and implementation of projects, funded with European, national, or local funds. The hands-on, practical approaches, techniques, and tools for executing and enhancing the quality of interventions is expected to help improve the living conditions of Roma. The handbook intends to share global insights, experience, and ideas to broaden the range of interventions and actions considered by stakeholders, and also to inspire further innovations.
The purpose of the dissemination workshop is to inform central and local authorities as well as civil society organizations about the purpose, use, and key contents of the handbook. The presentation of the handbook will be followed by discussion sessions to help the participants better relate the contents of the handbook with their circumstances and start considering the application of the contents. Hard copies of the handbook, translated into Romanian, will be distributed during the workshop.
