Striving Toward Disaster Resilient Development in Sub-Saharan Africa

Join the World Bank Group and the Global Facility Disaster Reduction and Recovery for a presentation and discussion on the World Bank’s Strategy in Striving Toward Disaster Resilient Development in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The World Bank is in the process of finalization the strategy on “Striving Toward Disaster Resilient Development in Sub-Saharan Africa”. The strategy takes stock of World Bank’s current engagement in disaster risk management throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and how such engagements are helping to build resilience through refined interventions. The Strategy also outlines the World Bank’s future priorities aimed at supporting the advancement of the disaster risk management agenda and how partnerships, knowledge and investments will be integrated into Bank operations to reduce poverty and support disaster resilient development. As part of this presentation, the new initiative “Strengthening Climate and Disaster Resilience in Sub-Saharan Africa - Regional Framework Program to Improve Hydromet Services” will be discussed.

The presentation will be followed by an interactive dialogue on key elements of the strategy.
