“Challenges for European Deposit Insurance Systems: Funding, Investment Practices and Reimbursement” was a joint Polish Bank Guarantee Fund, and the World Bank Financial Sector Advisory Center (FinSac) regional seminar that brought together experts to focus on key topics that ensure financial sector stability.
The seminar was opened by Mr. Jerzy Pruski, President of the Bank Guarantee Fund and Ms. Marina Wes, World Bank Country Manager for Poland and the Baltics. Mr. Isfandyar Zaman Khan, Financial and Private Sector Development Sector Leader, Europe and Central Asia and Mr. Jan Philipp Nolte, World Bank Senior Financial Sector Specialist moderated the sessions and discussions. The seminar gathered specialists from various countries, such as United Kingdom, Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary and Poland, as well as agencies like the European Banking Authority, who shared their knowledge and experience with respect to Deposit insurance Systems.
The World Bank works on enhancing the financial safety net system through the deposit insurance agencies which safeguard the deposits of the borrowers. The World Bank works with a number of countries such as Serbia, Kosovo, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria through a mix of technical assistance and lending.
