The theme of the 9th Public Procurement Exchange Platform is Efficient Implementation of Procurement - Centralized Purchasing.
Opening remarks by Philippe Le Houérou, Vice-President, Europe and Central Asia, World Bank
This four-day event will provide an opportunity for the Public Procurement Agencies of participating countries to learn and share their experiences and practices in public procurement reforms, with a special focus on centralized purchasing as an efficient way of procuring common-use goods and services.
The event will also give participating countries an opportunity to further establish and strengthen cooperation and networking with each other and donors.
Among those participating are high level government officials responsible for public procurement in 18 countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, FYR of Macedonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
Representatives from the Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Islamic Development Bank, SIGMA, and the World Bank will also attend.
In addition to presentations by participants and donors, speakers from public procurement regulatory bodies from Croatia and Portugal, as well as a speaker from UNCITRAL, will make presentations.
The event is hosted by the Public Procurement Bureau and co-sponsored by the Asian Development Bank, European Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank and the World Bank.
