The World Bank Group supports India to improve the effectiveness of social protection (SP) systems to increase resilience to shocks that can force vulnerable populations into poverty. This includes improving both coverage and coordination of social protection systems in the states. The World Bank Group supports state-level engagements to build program outreach, targeting of beneficiaries and last-mile delivery systems. It also works with central and state governments in the design, piloting and scale-up of social registries to improve beneficiary identification and targeting.
