Consultations on Inclusion and Non-Discrimination in World Bank-Financed Projects in Uganda
The World Bank worked with the Government of Uganda (GoU) and local communities to identify risks and develop additional mitigation measures to strengthen inclusion and non-discrimination of vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals and groups in World Bank-financed projects following the enactment of the 2023 Anti-Homosexuality Act.
Following the principles of the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework (ESF), the GoU lead consultations with civil society organizations and the World Bank on the proposed additional measures from January 16-19, 2024, in Kampala. Participants, mostly from CSOs, provided feedback on the proposed measures that ensure that project benefits reach all targeted individuals and groups without exception.
