Peru has the potential to become a high-income high-income country in two decades with the implementation of bold reforms. In contrast, under current conditions, it would take 64 years for the country to reach high-income status.
It is time to be ambitious again.
Despite recent economic difficulties, Peru has great potential for sustainable and inclusive growth through targeted reforms and the development of strategic sectors. The country can access new growth opportunities by promoting its comparative advantages in agribusiness and tourism, taking advantage of the global energy transition in the mining sector, and improving the overall business environment to remove barriers to business growth.
Addressing spatial disparities and improving institutional effectiveness, particularly in public investment management, will further contribute to sustainable and inclusive development. Reducing territorial inequalities and restoring trust in the state can also help address the root causes of citizen discontent and unrest.
