The Lebanon Poverty and Equity Assessment 2024: Weathering a Protracted Crisis is an evidenced-based, core diagnostic tool designed to identify and analyze recent shifts in poverty and inequality in Lebanon. The assessment utilizes data from the Lebanon Household Survey 2022/2023: the first household consumption survey conducted in Lebanon in the past decade. The survey was conducted by the WB in collaboration with UNHCR and WFP.
The report provides an updated overview of the current welfare state in Lebanon. It documents the impact of a protracted economic crisis -well into its fifth year- on households, along with their coping mechanisms, and investigates how the crisis has potentially affected labor market dynamics in the country.
The report recommends a series of interventions to help build the resilience of households and their ability to weather the protracted crisis.
