The second leg of the Philippines roadshow was held on June 6, 2023, at the World Bank Manila Office. The team attracted tremendous interest through its discussion of the records and information management roadmap. Over fifty participants attended the roadshow with many government agencies represented including the Bank’s partner in development agenda, the Department of Finance and National Economic Development Authority. The Congress of the Philippines also sent representatives.
Ms. Paula Kim, Director, Institutional Services Division (CSIS) Corporate Services Department (CSD) of the Asian Development Bank, also attended the roadshow.
Mr. Achim Fock, World Bank Group (WBG) Operations Manager for Brunei, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand Country Management Unit (CMU) and Mr. Gustavo Castaner Marquardt, Vice President, International Council on Archives (ICA) and Unit Head, Information Resources and Services at Asian Development Bank were guest speakers at this event.
During the workshop, participants were asked about their main records management challenges. Digitization, storage, retrieval, lack of staff, and permanent and conducive storage facilities were among the main challenges identified.
Participants were asked to provide feedback at the conclusion of the workshop. Key takeaway were: (i) "The WBG records management workshop has provided useful information for government offices implementing strategic and coordinated improvements to their existing records management"; (ii) "The Records Roadmap is an efficient tool which can be applied in [a variety of government agencies]"; and (iii) "We at the National Archives of the Philippines, should promote this wonderful tool by including this in our modules to disseminate information to our stakeholders".
