On October 25, 2017, members of the World Bank Group’s Sanctions Board Secretariat met with the director and staff of the Bank’s country office in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. In the context of these meetings, the Executive Secretary to the Sanctions Board delivered a presentation to country staff regarding the purpose and structure of the World Bank Group’s sanctions system. Members of the country team, which included IFC staff, shared their perspectives with respect to regional priorities and challenges. The meetings concluded with discussions of how sanctions proceedings and decisions may affect local operations and what the institutional stakeholders from the field and from the sanctions bodies, respectively, can learn from each other.
