The new World Bank Group (WBG)—World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA)—Scorecard tracks and measures the impact of the WBG's efforts to realize its expanded vision and mission with rigor and transparency, with a shift in focus from inputs to outcomes.
The new Scorecard was developed to enable development outcomes to be monitored more effectively as the WBG works toward its goal of eliminating poverty on a livable planet. For the first time, the work of all WBG financing institutions (IBRD, IDA, IFC and MIGA) will be tracked using the same set of indicators, providing a comprehensive overview of the Group's performance and one that enables course correction throughout.
The Scorecard’s 22 carefully selected indicators measure key outcomes, help manage with evidence, and communicate results in critical development areas such as access to electricity, clean water, quality education, and food security. Collectively, they are known as WBG Results indicators. They are people-centered, capturing improvements in the well-being of individuals in client countries.
The initial release of the new scorecard, published in late June 2024, provides insights on 11 indicators – half of the total— to track our progress on some of the most critical development challenges such as social safety nets, debt sustainability, GHG emissions, safe water and sanitation, access to electricity, renewable energy capacity, better education, food and nutrition security, sustainable transport, broadband internet use, and digitally-enabled services.
This scorecard is a work in progress, covering only a portion of the results in our current portfolio. To increase accountability and transparency, all the data and underlying methodologies for released indicators are being made available for anyone to access, replicate, and reproduce. The indicators allow for disaggregation for more detailed insights, such as the distribution of results by gender, country, region, age category, with a strong focus on the impact on people’s lives.
The full set of data on the remaining indicators will be released at the World Bank Annual Meetings in October 2024 and hosted on a new interactive platform .. The Scorecard will be an important management tool, with detailed results showing exactly how many people have benefitted from WBG operations—and will inform future investment and project decisions.
The new Scorecard sets the reporting cycle for FY24-FY30, updated annually to external stakeholders, with a mid-term review planned in FY26, and concluding in the same year as the final reporting of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
