Zainab Ahmed, a Nigerian national, has served as the World Bank Group Executive Director representing Angola, Nigeria, and South Africa since November 2024. Prior to this role, she was the Alternate Executive Director from July 2023.
Ms. Ahmed is a seasoned accountant and politician with extensive experience in public finance and economic planning. She served as Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning from 2019 to 2023 and previously held the position of Minister of State for Budget and National Planning from 2015 to 2018.
