Yi Jie Gwee


Yi Jie Gwee is an Economist in the Macroeconomics and Growth Team in the Development Research Group. He is seconded from the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry under the World Bank’s Global Secondment Program. He works on a wide range of applied micro and macro topics, and has a keen interest in economic history. His recent research and policy work focus on land use regulations and legal institutions in urban development, the spatial distribution of manufacturing activities, industrial policy, the spillover effects of MNC-led growth, exchange rates and trade, price stickiness, as well as immigration. He completed his PhD at Columbia University in 2021, and holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
