Wilfried Kouamé is the Senior Economist for Senegal and The Gambia in the Macroeconomics, Trade, and Investment Global Practice. He previously was Country Economist for the Central African Republic and in this role, he led the macroeconomic monitoring, policy dialogue, and several Development Policy Operations and analytical studies. Having joined the World Bank in 2016 as a Summer Intern (World Bank Summer Internship Program) and in 2017 as a Research Fellow at the World Bank Office of Chief Economist for Africa, where he contributed to several reports and research projects, he then completed his Ph.D. at Sherbrooke University, Canada, and returned as a Young Professional in 2018. He had held lecturer positions at HEC Montreal and Sherbrooke University, Canada. Wilfried also holds a master’s in development economics from CERDI (Centre for Studies and Research on International Development), France. He has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals, including the World Bank Economic Review and World Development.
