Weifeng Yang is the Alternate Executive Director for China at the World Bank Group.
Previously, Weifeng was the Director of the Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation, Ministry of Finance, P. R. China. From 2014-2023, He served as the Director of International Financial Institution Division I and International Financial Institution Division III, and Deputy Director of Research Division and International Financial Institution Division II. During his service, he was responsible for China’s cooperation with major Multilateral Development Banks and International Financial Institutions, including the World Bank Group, the Asian Development Bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the New Development Bank, European Investment Bank and International Fund for Agricultural Development. He also served as a Transitional Committee Member and Board Member of Green Climate Fund from 2015-2018 and Alternate Council Member of Global Environment Facility from 2021-2023. At different times from 2010-2018, he served as the Chief Negotiator on climate finance for the Chinese delegation to the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC).
Weifeng joined the Ministry of Finance of China in 2006 and had held numerous positions in International Department and Department of International Financial and Economic Cooperation, including Technical Assistance Division, Financial and Statistics Division and International Financial Institution Division III. From 2011-2014, he served as an Advisor to the Chinese Executive Director at the Asian Development Bank.
Weifeng graduated with a Master of Economics degree from the University of International Business and Economics in 2006, and a Bachelor of Art degree from Jilin University in 2000.
