Trine Lunde, a Norwegian national, is the World Bank Group Alternate Executive Director representing Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden since August 2024.
Prior to joining the WBG Board, Ms. Lunde was the Policy Director, Section for Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2021- 2024). At the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), she held a number of roles including Acting Assistant Director, Section for Food Security and the Environment (2020-2021); and Assistant Director, Development Policy and Economic Governance (2013-2015).
Ms. Lunde also held various positions during her time in Tanzania such as Country Economist at the Norwegian Embassy (2018-2020); Senior Development Economist at UNHCR Country Office (2017-2018); and International Consultant, UNICEF Country Office (2016-2017). Earlier in her career, she worked at the World Bank Group as an Economist with the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Unit (2008-2012) and as a Short-Term Consultant with the Latin America & the Caribbean Unit (2004-2008).
Ms. Lunde holds a PhD in International Development and Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She received an MA in International Relations and International Economics from SAIS and an MA in Management with a specialization in Finance and Geopolitical Risk from Hautes Etudes Commercials (HEC).
