Sigrún Rawet, a Swedish national, is the World Bank Group Executive Director representing Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden since July 2024.
Prior to joining the WBG Board, Ms. Rawet held several senior positions at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, including Deputy Director-General, Head of the Department for Multilateral Development Banks, Sustainability and Climate (2020-2024). She was the Alternate Governor of the African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, Interamerican Development Bank and International Fund for Agricultural Development, IFAD (2020-2024).
Ms. Rawet also served as the Head of the Economic Development and Humanitarian Section at the Swedish permanent mission to the UN (2015-2018), during the Swedish tenure at the UN Security Council. She held various other positions such as Head of the Conflict Division, Department for Security Policy (2011-2015); Policy Advisor and Coordinator to the Minister for International Development Cooperation and State Secretary for International Development Cooperation (2004-2011); and in the Africa Department.
Ms. Rawet was the Deputy Director of the Swedish International Peace Research Institute, SIPRI (2018-2020). She has also worked in the European Commission Delegation to Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros, Seychelles and La Réunion (1998- 2000) as well as for AMREF in Kenya. Ms. Rawet serves on the Audit Committee (AC) and the Committee on Development Effectiveness (CODE)
