Richard Walker is currently the World Bank’s Senior Country Economist for Maldives and Sri Lanka, based in Colombo. Prior to this role, he was the World Bank’s Senior Country Economist for Uganda, based in Kampala. Before this, he worked at the African Development Bank as a Principal Economist and Program Leader covering several countries including Somalia, Kenya, Seychelles, Burundi and Rwanda. Richard spent the early part of his career at Genesis Analytics, an economics and strategy consultancy where he led projects in the areas of growth, fiscal policy, private sector development, regional integration and trade, financial inclusion, sustainable development, and competition economics.
