Rebekka Grun


Rebekka Grun is Practice Leader in the West Africa Region of the World Bank, resourcing and mentoring the Human Development team, operationally integrating countries and sectors across the matrix. Earlier, she was assistant to the president, covering Human Development, Economics and core global partnerships. Rebekka has so far worked in high-, middle-, low income and fragile countries, in Africa, Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

Before joining the Bank, Rebekka was an adviser in the UK Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, which she joined from private sector strategy consulting. Rebekka holds a PhD in Economics from University College London, exploring the impact of violence on investment and displacement in Colombia, and a lic.oec. from the University of St. Gallen.

A Cusanus scholar, Rebekka has guest lectured at Stanford and Georgetown and received awards for both her research and policy design work and she has published important technical literature in her areas of work. She is a regular peer reviewer of family, childcare, and labor policies and publications. Her widely read dating column was featured in the Huffington Post and her blog comments on recent research relevant for dating, achieving a KRED influencer score of 907/1000 in the family category. Her TED talk was released in early 2020 and commented on TV.
