Ralph van Doorn is the Lead Economist and Program Leader for the Prosperity group for Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands. He is an expert on macroeconomic policy, fiscal policy, and debt management. Previously he was the Senior Country Economist for the Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Mongolia leading the macroeconomic policy and reform dialog and led policy-based loans. He provided technical assistance to governments on fiscal, growth and debt issues in countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, Central and East Asia, and Eastern Europe.
Prior to joining the World Bank, he worked at Credit Suisse focusing on Egypt, Kazakhstan and the Gulf countries. He holds a Master of Research degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a Master of Science degree in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology.
