Mr. Rahul Kitchlu serves as the Practice Manager for Energy and Extractives in the South Asia Region. He leads strategic, technical, and operational leadership to advance sector reform dialogue, enhance energy security, and foster regional energy cooperation. His objective is to leverage global knowledge and implement effective solutions for development impact through close collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), and the private sector. As a team leader, he also supports career development and motivates staff for professional excellence and strong results.
A Canadian national of Indian origin, Mr. Kitchlu joined the Bank as a Young Professional in 2010. Since then, he has held several positions, including country-office assignments in the East Africa and East Asia Regions as a Lead Energy Specialist and Program Leader for Infrastructure. His most recent assignment was as Practice Manager in the Climate Change Group based in Washington, DC.
With over two decades of professional experience, Mr. Kitchlu has worked globally on issues related to climate, finance, infrastructure, and energy. He has expertise in developing and implementing infrastructure decarbonization and resilience programs, supporting policy and sector reforms for effective service delivery, and establishing impactful public-private partnerships.
